“They’ll bring a 24 pack, couple of them, and everyone kind of understands the assignment. I can’t stop and get beers. I’m trying to get home as quickly as I can because we’re going to be late anyway..

“The crew guys, they usually don’t bring anything, I don’t think, because they get home late too and they just come right over. So it’s really just your buddies who are already home, they kind of understand the assignment: ‘I’m bringing some supplies, and hopefully it’s enough for everybody.’ It’s a good friendship thing.”

On the topic of friendships, Blaney’s close pal Bubba Wallace recently ended his 100-race drought at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 23XI Racing pilot appeared to party accordingly, posting on social media to give fans a glimpse into his victory festivities at home. In the photos, Wallace is seen popping a bottle of champagne and celebrating shirtless with friends in his backyard.

Even though he wasn’t there in person, team co-owner Michael Jordan was there in spirit. He told Wallace over the phone after the race that he “was so proud,” and would “have a drink or two” in honor of the No. 23 Toyota driver that night.

Both Blaney and Wallace are looking forward to another celebration this Sunday when they compete at Watkins Glen in the Go Bowling At The Glen race, the third last regular-season race of the year. With Richmond Raceway and Daytona next up, all eyes will then shift to the controversial 10-race playoffs, ending with the Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway on November 2. Here, Blaney’s teammate Joey Logano will aim to defend his title.
