Over a year on from signing with the club, Estevao made a long awaited Chelsea debut and was brilliant, opening the scoring in the first half as he tapped home after Cole Palmer’s lob hit the crossbar. Most encouraging was his link-up play – after just a few days of training with his new teammates, his chemistry with Palmer and Andrey Santos was tangible, and kept Leverkusen on the back foot for long stretches. They will have been glad to see him replaced in the second half.
