Continuing a family legacy of national service, fourth-generation Sonoman Quinn Dixon will attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, as a member of its class of 2030.
Dixon, who will be inducted on June 25, plans to study aerospace engineering.

The Dixon family first moved to Sonoma in 1911 and have regarded it as their hometown for the past four generations. Quinn’s grandparents met while attending Sonoma Valley High School and were married in 1961 until his grandfather, a naval aviator who served three tours in Vietnam, died in 2014.
Quinn’s father, David Dixon, and mother, Lora Baker, have served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ghana and overseas for the U.S. foreign service for more than 24 years. They were serving in Guadalajara, Mexico, when Quinn was about to be born but flew back to Sonoma for his birth.
When Quinn was 3 months old, the family returned to Guadalajara and remained there for two years. They family then relocated to Washington, D.C., where his parents received language training.
Since then, the family has lived in Germany, Portugal, Belgium and Singapore. Dixon attended Carlucci American International School of Lisbon (for grades K-4), International School of Brussels (5-8) and Singapore American School (9-12)
Dixon graduated cum laude from Singapore American School and was on its swim team for all four years, serving as captain during his junior and senior years.
His global experiences helped him to develop speaking ability in German, Dutch, French and Spanish.
He also was a coach for Special Olympics Singapore athletes and was one of two high school interns who served at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View during summer 2025.
While living abroad, Dixon and his family returned to Sonoma for one to three months every summer. He swam for the Sonoma Sea Dragons during his middle and high school years and was a member of the Young Eagles, part of the Experimental Aircraft Association at Sonoma Skypark.
Dixon’s family is in the process of moving to Sonoma permanently. His father moved before his mother and now teaches middle-school humanities classes at Blue Oak School, a K-8 school in Napa. His mother has been newly assigned as the principal commercial and finance officer for the United States in Canada.
His brother, Gavin Dixon, is a U.S. Army National Merit Scholar studying at the University of San Diego.
