“General Hospital” star Rena Sofer is in a “New York State of Mind,” and leaving Hollywood.
Sofer shared a video on her Instagram page with her husband, Sanford Bookstaver, revealing the news as they say goodbye to Los Angeles for New York.
“We’ve been in LA for almost 35 years and now it’s time for me and @sbookstaver to go,” Sofer wrote in the caption.
She continued, “Yes I’m getting emotional. I met and had my children in LA met the man of my dreams and created an incredible life there. I had amazing success in the Biz and made all my lifelong friends who I will miss desperately.”
“Thank you LA for being you. And now on to quieter and calmer times.,” she added.
Sofer has been playing Lois Cerullo on “General Hospital” off and on since 1993 and also had a lengthy run as Quinn on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
She’s also appeared on multiple shows over the years, including “Friends,” “Seinfeld,” “Melrose Place,” “24,” and “Once Upon a Time,” among many, many others.
There’s been no official statement about whether or not Sofer’s move will impact her role on “General Hospital,” but a source told E! News “There has not been a conversation about her leaving the show.”
Sofer isn’t the only “General Hospital” star relocating this year.
Kirsten Storms, who plays Maxie Jones on the soap opera, announced last month that she is moving to Tennessee and taking an extended break from the show.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to move to a place like this, it’s hard to believe it’s really happening,” she wrote in the caption of her IG post sharing the news.
Storms also revealed she isn’t off the show for good.
“When you approach a job like this, they can always be like, ‘Forget it. We’ll let you out of your contract if you’re gonna leave the state,’” Storms said. “‘GH’ did not do that, which was kind of amazing, because I also asked for some time off.”
