Burlington City Arts celebrated the installation of a new sculpture downtown, showcasing Main Street’s refreshed appearance. The art installation, titled “Lake Bone,” was created by local artist Nancy Winship Milliken. A parade escorted the 48-foot-long sculpture to its permanent site on Main Street. “It’s so ratifying to have this many people come out and embrace this piece of public art. This is why we do it. We do this so people love it and embrace it. And I think it’s going to be a great landmark in the Burlington streetscape. And we’re excited that people feel the same way,” said Colin Storrs, public art and grants program manager for Burlington City Arts. The sculpture was commissioned by Burlington City Arts as part of its Great Streets BTV – Main Street Project, which aims to reinvest in Burlington’s infrastructure to make the city accessible, sustainable and beautiful.
