A Baltimore County police officer, an armed person and a bystander were all struck in exchange of gunfire Sunday morning on a trail in Pikesville. County police said officers were called around 8:50 a.m. to a trail off Milford Mill Road for a suspicious person/indecent exposure report.Police said officers arrived and were fired upon by an armed subject and gunfire was exchanged.Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough said one officer was struck in the upper body and taken to Shock Trauma by a Maryland State Police helicopter.Dr. David Efron, chief of trauma and medical director at Shock Trauma, said the officer is in the intensive-care unit in critical condition and is stable while undergoing care.”The officer is doing well and is expected to recover,” McCullough said.The armed person was also injured and was taken to a hospital. I wish him well,” Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier said. “This was an awful, awful thing that happened today, and it’s very unacceptable. Please keep the family and their loved ones in your prayers.””This is 100% senseless,” said Baltimore County Councilman Izzy Patoka, D-District 2, who represents the area where the officer was shot. “This one hits really close to home. I represent the area, but I also live about a half-mile down Milford Mill Road from where this incident occurred; I’m a user of this park.
