The eight-team field for the 2026 College World Series is complete. Five teams from the SEC, a record for one conference, are heading to Omaha.

Texas, which swept Oregon in the Austin Super Regional, is in the CWS for a record 39th time and the first under second-year coach Jim Schlossnagle. The Longhorns, however, have not won a national championship since 2005.

Georgia, the top remaining seed (No. 3 overall), returns to Omaha for the first time since 2008. The Bulldogs, who lead the nation with 174 home runs, won the SEC regular-season and tournament titles and swept through the Regional and Super Regional with five consecutive wins.

Alabama, the No. 7 overall seed, Ole Miss and Oklahoma are the three other SEC teams in the field. Alabama is in the CWS for the first time since 1999. The last appearance for both Ole Miss and Oklahoma was in 2022, when they played each other for the national title (won by the Rebels).

Troy, from the Sun Belt, is the only team from outside the Power 4 to crash the CWS. The Trojans, who were 32-29 on Selection Monday yet still received an at-large bid, were the No. 3 seed in the Gainesville Regional. They lost the opener to Miami but then won four straight, including the final two over host Florida, to advance to the Super Regional.

From there, Troy returned home and rolled past Little Rock, sweeping the (other) Trojans by scores of 12-2 and 7-2 before record crowds at Riddle-Pace Field.

West Virginia, which advanced to the CWS with a sweep over Cal Poly in the Morgantown Super Regional, joins Troy as a CWS newcomer.

North Carolina, from the ACC, is headed to Omaha for the second time in the last three years and the 13th time overall. The Tar Heels scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth Sunday afternoon to beat USC 4-3 in Game 3 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional.

What are the first-round matchups?

Friday: Troy vs. West Virginia, 2 p.m. (ET); North Carolina vs. Ole Miss, 7 p.m. (ET)

Saturday: Alabama vs. Oklahoma, 3 p.m. (ET); Georgia vs. Texas, 8 p.m. (ET)

Where are the national seeds?

Only five of the top 16 seeds advanced to the College World Series, the same number as last season.

The seeded teams to advance: No. 3 Georgia, No. 5 North Carolina, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Alabama and No. 16 West Virginia.

The top two overall seeds, UCLA and Georgia Tech, failed to get out of the Regional round. That’s the second consecutive season that has occurred, with No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 2 Texas bowing out early in 2025.

Six of the eight teams advanced as a Super Regional host. The two road teams to win were Ole Miss (swept Auburn) and Oklahoma (swept Kansas).

There will not be a repeat champion, as LSU did not even make the NCAA Tournament. The last repeat champ was South Carolina in 2010 and 2011.

Also, there is a completely new field in 2026. None of the teams from the 2025 CWS are back in Omaha — and none even advanced to the Super Regionals.
