ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball program announced that it will play a home-and-home series against the Villanova Wildcats.
The Wolverines made the announcement on Wednesday (Aug. 6) that they will play the first game in Ann Arbor at Crisler Center on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The return game at Villanova has not been announced, nor have the TV and tip-off times been revealed.
The matchup will be the seventh and eighth game between the Wolverines and Villanova.
Michigan trails the all-time series 4-2, with the last games resulting in a 63-55 loss in the 2022 NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.
Three of the six series games have been in the NCAA Tournament, including the 2018 national title game, in which Michigan fell 79-62.
Overall, five of the six games have been played at a neutral site.
The lone campus game was part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games at Villanova on Nov. 14, 2018, which the University of Michigan won 73-46 at Finneran Pavilion.
Michigan returned to basketball relevance following Dusty May’s first year as the head coach during the 2024-25 season, where they recorded a 27-10 record while winning the Big Ten Tournament and advancing to the Sweet 16 for a sixth straight NCAA Tournament.
