Against a red-hot New York Liberty squad, the Connecticut Sun continued to struggle and extended their losing streak to three games. They dropped to 2-11 on the season, keeping them at the bottom of the WNBA standings.
Connecticut trailed by as many as 13 points before succumbing to an 89-80 loss to the Liberty. The Sun couldn’t slow down Breanna Stewart at all, with the WNBA veteran exploding for 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Sun forward Aaliyah Edwards led the team in scoring with 15 points, along with five rebounds and three steals. However, she shot 6-of-15 from the field and had a -14 plus-minus rating.
To make matters worse for Edwards, she’s now set to receive a fine from the WNBA after getting hit with her first flagrant foul of the season.

With over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, game officials assessed Edwards a Flagrant 1 after a foul on Liberty guard Pauline Astier.

According to the WNBA rules, players receive a $500 fine for each flagrant point they get. A Flagrant 1 counts for one point, while a Flagrant 2 counts for two points.
While it was only one flagrant point for Edwards, she will have to be more careful moving forward since flagrant points accumulate. She will be suspended for one game once she reaches four flagrant points. Furthermore, she could be suspended for two games if she receives a Flagrant 2 after already accumulating three flagrant points.
