The Berks County Heritage Center will unveil its newly refurbished Bicentennial Eagle sculpture on June 16 ahead of the country’s 250th birthday.

The event will take place at the center in Bern Township at 12:30 p.m.

The sculpture was originally cast and assembled by students in 1976 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Artist Mike Miller collaborated with students at the Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center and the Berks County Parks and Recreation team to repaint and reinstall the Eagle in the courtyard next to the barn with a new public art mural.
