Golden State nearly acquired this sharpshooter at February trade deadline

The Golden State Warriors were interested in making upgrades at the February trade deadline, eventually landing Kristaps Porzingis from the Atlanta Hawks for a package that included Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. However, recent reports from HoopsHype indicated that Golden State may have been after another star instead.

According to HoopsHype, the Warriors were among four teams interested in Michael Porter Jr. and nearly parted with a first-round pick to acquire him just hours before the deadline. Porter Jr. was in the midst of a breakout season with the Brooklyn Nets after a trade from the Denver Nuggets, averaging a career-high 24.2 points to go along with 7.1 rebounds, three assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks.

While the Warriors could re-engage with Brooklyn this offseason, sources have indicated that Golden State’s main priority at the moment is making a pitch to land LeBron James in free agency.
