WNBA to Fine Caitlin Clark $500 After Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky Game

After the Indiana Fever barely beat the Washington Mystics on Monday, despite leading by as many as 17 points, Caitlin Clark and company survived another comeback attempt against the Chicago Sky.

The Fever led by 19 points midway through the second quarter, but similar to the Mystics game, they saw their lead quickly disappear. The Sky even went up 79-73 by the end of the third quarter.

Fortunately, a 25-19 fourth quarter allowed Indiana to force overtime and eventually secure a 114-106 victory.

Clark led the way with 32 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field, along with seven rebounds and 10 assists. The All-Star guard was also a perfect 15-of-15 from the free-throw line.

Aliyah Boston also recorded 34 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks to help Indiana improve to 7-5 on the season. Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 19 points.

However, it wasn’t all positive for Clark. She received her third technical foul of the season during the game, which puts her in line to receive a punishment from the WNBA.

In the third quarter, a referee hit Clark with a tech after the Fever guard punched the air in frustration when there was no whistle on what she deemed was a foul on her.

Clark is due to pay a $500 fine for her latest tech. However, she will need to be more careful since a player’s fourth to seventh technical fouls of the season each carry a $1,000 fine. Any technical foul beyond that will result in a $1,500 as well as a one-game suspension.
