University of Oregon dismissed its lawsuit against former football player Dakoda Fields late last month.
Fields, a redshirt freshman defensive back who transferred to Oklahoma in January after departing Oregon midway through the 2025 season, paid the remaining $10,000 he owed Oregon plus interest and legal fees, according to a May 27 dismissal notice in the case.
The lawsuit, filed May 15 in Lane County Circuit Court, argued that Fields agreed to pay the university $39,882.30 in exchange for a release from his contract when he decided to transfer.
While the two parties allegedly agreed to discount that payment by $10,000 if Fields made the payment by April 20, Oregon claims Fields did not submit it by the agreed-upon date, hence the ensuing legal proceedings.
Fields has now made right on that missing portion of the payment, resolving the matter as he moves on with his college football career at the SEC program.
Presumably, the original agreement released Fields from a revenue-sharing deal between himself and Oregon. But state law protects against public disclosure of the details of such agreements.
A circuit court judge signed the dismissal notice on June 1, and the case was officially closed on June 3.
