TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec — The NASCAR Canada Series returns to the iconic street circuit of Trois-Rivières this weekend for one of the most anticipated events of the season, the 60 Tours Rousseau Métal at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R).
The action-packed weekend will feature nearly 30 drivers taking on the only street circuit on the calendar.
Defending race winner Marc-Antoine Camirand returns looking to make it three consecutive victories at GP3R, having claimed pole and the checkered flag in both 2023 and 2024.
Other former winners include Alex Guénette in the No. 39 GL Électricité-Automatisations/Bet GRW Chevrolet, Alex Tagliani driving the No. 80 St. Hubert/UPS Store/Bet GRW/DryShine Chevrolet, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin commanding the No. 47 WeatherTech/Bellemere/Omnifab Dodge, Kevin Lacroix behind the No. 74 Adaptive One Calipers/NAPA Racing Chevrolet, D.J. Kennington in the No. 17 Castrol Edge/Brimstone Games/CIM Metals Dodge, and Andrew Ranger driving the No. 27 GM Paillé Chevrolet Canada, all expected to go for the win once again this year.
This year’s edition features a stellar lineup of talent, including hometown heroes Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and Jean-François Dumoulin, driving the No. 04 Omnifab / Bellemare / Bernier Crépeau Dodge. Both will be aiming for strong performances in front of their home crowd. Last year, Louis-Philippe finished just off the podium in fourth place, while fellow Trois-Rivières native Raphaël Lessard claimed third. Lessard returns behind the wheel of the No. 7 car, proudly representing the Lions de Trois-Rivières.
As part of the NASCAR Canada-Euro Series driver exchange program, Italian driver Vittorio Ghirelli will make his debut on Canadian soil. Ghirelli, the current points leader in the NASCAR Euro Series, joins the grid ahead of Raphaël Lessard’s upcoming race in Germany later this season.
Alexandre Fortin is set to make his NASCAR Canada Series debut behind the wheel of the No. 3 car for Ed Hakonson Racing.
With just a handful of races remaining, the championship battle is heating up. D.J. Kennington leads the standings with 239 points, followed closely by Marc-Antoine Camirand with 236 points, Kevin Lacroix with 226 points, Andrew Ranger with 224 points, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin with 222 points, Mathieu Kingsbury with 219 points and Ryan Vargas with 210 points.
On-track action begins Saturday, August 9, with practice at 12 p.m. ET and qualifying at 4:50 p.m. ET.
