COLUMBIA — A South Carolina football player was being held in the Richland County jail late in the afternoon of June 14 facing a litany of charges including breaking into property and theft.
Sam Williams-Dixon, listed as Sam Dixon on the Gamecocks’ online roster, was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center facing seven charges.
They include: Three each of breaking into an automobile/tanks where fuel is stored and criminal conspiracy, and one of grand larceny (more than $2,000, less than $10,000).
He was booked at midnight on Saturday. He was granted a $150,000 bond, but was still detained at 6 p.m., according to online jail records.
GamecockCentral.com was the first to report the arrest.
A school spokesperson confirmed that USC is aware of the situation. Per athletic department policy, Dixon is indefinitely suspended from all team activities.
Dixon, from Pickerington, Ohio, transferred from Ohio State and went through spring drills with the Gamecocks. A running back, he had 10 career carries for 62 yards in two seasons with the Buckeyes.
He was facing a crowded RB room at USC as one of seven vying to produce in USC’s offense.
