GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — The North Sky Raptor Sanctuary will release two rehabilitated American kestrels back into the wild Monday evening, June 15, in Grand Traverse County.
The birds, Michigan’s smallest raptors, were both admitted to the sanctuary with spinal trauma injuries.
The female kestrel arrived in December, while the male was admitted in March.
The event is weather dependent and will take place at Chateau Chantal Winery in Grand Traverse County.
Attendees will hear the story of the birds’ rehabilitation and learn about the role kestrels may play for wineries on Old Mission Peninsula.
The release is scheduled for Monday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m.
