NEW YORK — Spencer Jones hit his first Yankee Stadium home run in the second inning, Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt each added a two-run drive in the fourth, and the New York Yankees rocked Davis Martin in a 12-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

Gerrit Cole (2-1) allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 6 innings as the Yankees improved to 8-4 since losing slugger Aaron Judge indefinitely to a stress fracture in his right rib.

Jones reached the second deck in right field for a tying shot off Martin (9-3) and his second career homer. The rookie also drew a bases-loaded walk during a four-run third after Martin lost an ABS challenge.

Rice hit his 20th homer to give the Yankees a 7-1 lead when he hammered Martin’s 2-1 curveball into the right-field seats. Goldschmidt chased Martin with his 10th of the year, a shot to left on a 1-2 fastball.

Rice reached 20 homers for the second straight season after hitting 26 in 2025.

Goldschmidt homered for the second time in three games and matched his total from last season when he appeared in 146 games for the Yankees.

New York finished with 16 hits and scored double-digit runs for the eighth time.

Andrew Benintendi (Arkansas Razorbacks) homered three batters in.

Martin tied a career worst by allowing nine runs. He also permitted eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.

BLUE JAYS 6, RED SOX 1 Davis Schneider and Andres Gimenez hit back-to-back home runs, Dylan Cease pitched five shutout innings and visiting Toronto beat Boston. George Springer added a two-run homer, the 300th of his career. Schneider’s drive off rookie Payton Tolle (3-4) cleared the Green Monster, and Gimenez followed with a shot that put Toronto up 3-0 in the fifth. Tolle was tagged for 3 runs and 4 hits in 5 innings. Cease (4-3) scattered 4 hits and issued 4 walks while striking out 7. Louis Varland got four outs for his 13th save.

TWINS 12, RANGERS 2 Trevor Larnach led off the game with a home run, Kody Clemens added a three-run shot, and visiting Minnesota clinched another series in Texas with a win over the Rangers. Larnach drove the game’s second pitch 425 feet deep into the right-field seats. Josh Bell, who was born in nearby Irving and grew up in the area, added two hits and two RBI. Minnesota right-hander Zebby Matthews (3-4) struck out four without a walk in seven innings. He allowed both Texas runs. Rangers starter Kumar Rocker (2-6) was done after 3 1/3 innings, allowing 7 runs (6 earned).

ASTROS 4, TIGERS 2 Raynel Delgado drove in two runs in the eighth inning in his second major league game to help lift host Houston to a win over Detroit. With Houston down 2-1, Delgado hit a single to center field that sent Yainer Diaz and Cam Smith home. Bryan King (2-1) pitched the eighth inning, allowing one run and one walks. Josh Hader earned his third save of the season. Kieder Montero (3-5) entered the game in the seventh for the Tigers. He pitched 1 1/3 innings, striking out 2 while giving up 2 hits and 1 run.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

PHILLIES 8, MARLINS 2 Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber homered, Jesus Luzardo pitched seven strong innings and host Philadelphia defeated Miami. Luzardo (6-4) didn’t allow a hit until the fifth, and yielded only 2 runs and 5 hits while striking out 9. Tyler Phillips, like Luzardo pitching against his former team, gave up all three homers to his former teammates and a two-run triple to Bryson Stott. Phillips (1-2) permitted 8 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings. Schwarber reclaimed the major league home run lead when he hit No. 25 off Phillips in the fourth.

REDS 5, METS 3 Sal Stewart hit a three-run homer and Spencer Steer added a solo shot during a four-run first inning as host Cincinnati defeated New York. Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer in the sixth for New York, his first career pinch-hit home run. Mets right-hander Kodai Senga (0-5), reinstated from the injured list before the game, allowed four earned runs in four innings with four walks and five strikeouts in his first start since April 26. Bo Bichette’s RBI single put the Mets on the board in the third. They left the bases loaded in both the third and fourth against Brady Singer (3-6), who allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings.

CARDINALS 3, PADRES 2 Andre Pallante threw seven strong innings, Blaze Jordan hit an RBI double and Nathan Church added an RBI single as host St. Louis Cardinals beat San Diego. Pallante (8-4) struck out 6 while giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, and Riley O’Brien earned his 18th save. Lars Nootbaar opened the second inning with a walk before he scored on Jordan’s first double of the season. Church singled and Jordan gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead. Nootbaar capped the Cardinal’s scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field in the fifth to put the Cardinals up 3-1. Michael King (4-6) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings.

ROCKIES 5, CUBS 2 Willi Castro continued his hot streak with two RBI and TJ Rumfield hit a two-run home run as visiting Colorado evened its series against Chicago. Castro is 7 for 13 with 2 home runs, 3 walks and 9 RBI over the past three games. Four Rockies relievers combined to hold the Cubs scoreless over the final seven innings, with Blas Castaño (1-0) recording the win and Jaden Hill pitching the ninth for his first career save. Cubs starter Edward Cabrera (4-4) allowed 5 runs on 3 hits in 4 1/3 innings, leaving the game in the fifth with a right hand cramp and two on base.

INTERLEAGUE

NATIONALS 6, ROYALS 4 Curtis Mead hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift host Washington to a win over Kansas City. Nasim Nunez tripled twice and scored three times for the Nationals. Paxton Schultz (1-2) got the win in relief, and Gus Varland pitched the ninth — allowing a solo homer by ex-National Lane Thomas — for his sixth save. Daniel Lynch IV (2-1) took the loss.

BREWERS 2, GUARDIANS 1 Garrett Mitchell hit a solo homer in the seventh inning to lift host Milwaukee to a victory over Cleveland. After the Guardians tied it 1-1 in the seventh, Hunter Gaddis (1-2) relieved and Mitchell opened the bottom half of the inning with his fifth homer. After being held to three hits through six scoreless innings, the Guardians tied it with a run off Aaron Ashby (10-0). Stuart Fairchild walked with one out, advanced on a wild pitch, and came home on Gabriel Arias’ two-out single. Brice Turang snapped a scoreless tie in the fourth with his 11th homer, a two-out solo shot off Slade Cecconi for a 1-0 Milwaukee lead.
