The remnants of Arthur continued to lash swaths of the Southeast, posing a continued threat of heavy rainfall and flooding, one day after it formed and soon lost its tropical storm status.
The hazardous weather was expanding into Mississippi and Alabama on Thursday morning. As the disturbance’s heavy downpours and severe thunderstorms pushed through southeastern Louisiana early Thursday, multiple tornadoes were reported across the region. The system will roll across Georgia, the Florida Panhandle and the Carolinas on Thursday and Friday, producing widespread rainfall of 5 to 10 inches with isolated totals up to 20 inches.
