A blockbuster deal is shaking up the Eastern Conference, but Boston won’t benefit.
The Bucks have traded star player Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. The trade puts the Celtics back at square one for any potential trade moves for star Jaylen Brown.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Boston offered Brown and two future first-round picks for Antetokounmpo. Instead, the Bucks went with a Heat trade that sends five players from Miami up north and gets Milwaukee three first round picks.
The 31-year-old Antetokounmpo had an injury-ridden last season and the Bucks missed the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
The 10-time all-star spent his career in Milwaukee and led the franchise to an NBA championship in 2021.
But what’s left for the Celtics? Do they continue to look for a big trade including Brown, who is still under that supermax contract?
The cards are out on the table now, and it looks like the team and Brown feel like a change needs to be made.
