Montoursville, Pa. — The owner and operator of a local spa busted for prostitution in May was charged with trafficking and other offenses this week.

Xia Sun, 42, was arrested after victims, clients, neighbors, and the landlord of the property in the 400 block of Broad Street were interviewed by authorities. Sun, who used the named “Jessica” when paying rent for the Jia Yuan Spa, allegedly took passports and identification from the girls before forcing then into sexual servitude, according to Deputy Chief Clint Gardner of the Montoursville Police Department.

More charges were filed against spa boss Liuping Li, who was arrested in May when police found her inside the building during a raid on the property. Li, who participated in the services offered by the spa, helped run the business with Sun. She even recruited local woman, Gardner said.

Sun is being charged with 21 offenses, including trafficking in individuals, involuntary servitude, promotion of prostitution, encouraging prostitution, procuring patrons for prostitution, criminal use of a cellphone, conspiracy to commit trafficking, prostitution, labor servitude, and unlawful contact. No bail or court dates are listed for Sun.
