Zeynep Sönmez advances to the second round at the WTA Eastbourne

Zeynep Sönmez, who started the grass-court season with victories, kept up her momentum at the WTA Eastbourne tournament. In the first round, Zeynep faced world No. 151 Harriet Dart of the host country and defeated her British opponent in three sets.

The 24-year-old, ranked No. 54 in the world, lost the first set 6-4 but went on to win the second set 6-2 and the third set 7-5 to advance to the next round. Zeynep will face Czech player Sara Bejlek in the second round.
