ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. (WVUE) – St. Bernard Parish will hold a parade today to celebrate NBA Champion Mitchell Robinson, a Chalmette High School graduate.
NBA champion Mitchell Robinson returns to Chalmette
The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and will travel eastbound on Judge Perez Drive from Old Hickory Avenue to Palmisano Boulevard, ending near Chalmette High School. The route is approximately 1.2 miles.
Mitchell Robinson will toss custom limited-edition mini basketballs from his parade float to fans along the route.
Road closures will begin at 5 p.m. Eastbound Judge Perez Drive will be closed from Jean Lafitte Parkway to Palmisano Boulevard, with eastbound traffic detoured to Jean Lafitte Parkway and St. Bernard Highway. Southbound Palmisano Boulevard between Judge Perez Drive and Ohio Street will be closed until approximately 8 p.m. Westbound Judge Perez Drive will remain open.

Deputies will be stationed along the route to provide traffic control and ensure safety.
The parade will include 12 units: one float, Mitchell Robinson’s trucks, his friends’ trucks and other vehicles, a trolley, the Chalmette High School Band, and the Chalmette High School cheer and dance teams. The Sheriff’s Office said the parade should last about 40 minutes.
