The race for the playoffs heats up as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to the famous road course in upstate New York on Sunday afternoon, as the best in the series compete in the Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen.

It has been an eventful 2025 regular season thus far, but now things are getting down to the nitty-gritty for many drivers across the NCS. William Byron’s second win of the season last Sunday at Iowa moved him back to the top of the regular-season points, head of Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

However, wtih a season-leading four wins, Denny Hamlin currently has the most playoff points, make the race for the regular-season championship very important.

It is also important for the drivers trying to simply qualify for the postseason. With three races remaining, and only 13 drivers having scored wins thus far, there are three automatic spots for the playoffs up for grabs.

Yet, Chris Buescher, last year’s winner at Watkins Glen, is looking to hang on to that 16th and final playoff spot, sitting 23 points ahead of Ryan Preece.
