TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The plot of land that houses one of the most picturesque golf courses in the Magic Valley has gone up for sale, but speculations surrounding the use of the course has residents and golfers alike worried.
Canyon Springs sits on the banks of the Snake River and has been described as one of the most beautiful courses in the Magic Valley.
Twin Falls resident, Paul Schram, has been playing Canyon springs for years, and has nothing but nice things to say about the course.
“This is an awesome golf course,” Schram said. “You kind of feel special when you play here because it’s so beautiful.”
However, “for sale” signs have been appearing all over the property, putting the fate of the golf course in jeopardy, but Heidi Baldwin, an associate broker for McCann Daech Felton Realtors, is settling that worry aside and says the golf course, is here to stay.
“Everyone I have talked to talks about keeping the golf course, they realize it’s part of the community,” Baldwin says. “A lot of people enjoy it. It’s here, it’s perfect.”
The 277 plot is home to more than just the golf course. There is a geothermic well, which produces roughly 14.6 million gallons of 101 and 104 degree Fahrenheit water per day, as well as aquaculture, the water front, and several walking trails.
While potential buyers are going to keep the golf course, Baldwin says they want to utilize the geothermic well to expand recreation in the area.
“I have seen ideas that I think Idaho would love,” Baldwin said. “There have been surf wave parks, kayak parks, huge spa like pools, you name it.”
The property offered “turn key,” meaning all restaurant bar equipment and liquor license will be included in the sale, along with the pro shop, golf course equipment and all water rights.
Being a Peekaboo native, Baldwin says that Twin Falls deserves to be a “must-see” destination, and is hoping the sale can do just that.
“This place is already beautiful, but it would be nice for more people to be able to enjoy it,” Baldwin said. “It would be nice if Twin Falls had a destination for people to stop by and get a feel for Idaho.”
With talks about the sale growing in the community, Twin Falls residents, like Paul, have some words of advice for any potential buyer looking at purchasing the property.
“Please don’t get rid of the golf course, the people here love it,” Schram said. “It’s an awesome place and why would you want to change it?”
