Expect scattered showers and storms for the Gulf Coast Saturday evening

Showers and storms will begin to clear later tonight, while Saharan dust moves across southwest Florida.

FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Expect shower activity to wane through the night, leaving warm and muggy conditions for the Gulf coast Saturday night. Overnight lows will settle to the upper 70s.

Saharan dust will begin to move across southern sections of the state late Saturday night and Sunday morning. This could help to reduce rain coverage Sunday afternoon; however, enough moisture will be in place to spark isolated showers Sunday evening. At times, the sky may appear to be hazy, dusty, and have an orange glow. Dust in the air will make for vibrant sunsets.

Dust will stick around on Monday, keeping rain chances modest. Beyond the start of the week, moisture will once again increase, thus expanding rain coverage. Highs will remain above average.

Tropics: An area of low pressure is expected to form over the southwest Atlantic next week. Slow development is possible as it moves westward. This could increase rain chances over Florida mid-week.
