The Astros currently lead this weekend’s four-game series 2-1 after picking up a 2-1 victory in the opener on Thursday and an 8-6 win on Saturday. The Tigers took game two with a big 8-0 shutout on Friday night in front of a home crowd. Saturday’s loss was credited to Will Vest after he threw for one inning and gave up two earned runs. Kerry Carpenter led the Tigers’ offense, going 2-for-4 with four RBI after hitting a grand slam in the bottom of the third.

AJ Blubaugh improved to 4-2 for the Astros after striking out two batters during his two innings on the mound. Jeremy Peña, Isaac Paredes and Cam Smith each finished the game with two RBI, helping the Astros to regain the lead in the series. Smith hit his ninth home run of the season to plate Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes brought home Peña for the game-winning run with his 16th double of the year.

Hunter Brown will take the mound for Houston on Sunday while Detroit will give the ball to Jack Flaherty. Brown is currently 1-0 on the season with an impressive ERA of 1.40, while Flaherty is 1-8 with an ERA of 5.35.
