Nine hospitals operated by St. Luke’s University Health Network were named among the most socially responsible in the country by the Lown Institute in its 2026-2027 Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility.
This year’s index by the nonpartisan, healthcare-focused think tank includes more than 2,700 acute care hospitals across the nation. How well hospitals serve their communities, including how equitably care is delivered, how hospitals invest in their surrounding populations and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures all contributed to hospitals’ overall grade and ranking.
St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill, as well as St. Luke’s Hospital-Easton, -Upper Bucks, -Miners, -Warren, -Carbon, -Grand View, -Allentown and -Sacred Heart were included in Lown’s Honor Roll. The St. Luke’s system ranked fifth in the nation on the honor roll list for health systems.
“This report’s findings reflect St. Luke’s dedication to expand access to our network’s world-class, outcomes-driven quality care,” Dr. Rajika Reed, St. Luke’s vice president of community health, said in a statement. “Truly equitable health systems provide support and access to exceptional care while reaching all sectors of the community.”
No Jefferson or Lehigh Valley Health Network hospitals made it onto Lown’s honor roll. In an emailed statement, a Jefferson spokesperson said the system invests more than $2.7 billion annually in community benefits, including free and uncompensated care, community health initiatives and outreach efforts that address local needs.
