MEADE, Kan. (KWCH) – School districts around Kansas are coming up with solutions to comply with the state’s new ‘bell-to-bell’ cell phone ban which was passed back in March.

Students in the Meade School District USD 226 will be placing their cell phones in lockable bags this upcoming school year.

The district said that it has partnered with Yondr, a company that manufactures magnetic pouches. Students in grades seven through 12 will place their device inside the pouch.

Students will keep the pouch with them throughout the day, but will not be able to use their phone. The pouch remains locked until it is tapped against a magnetic unlocking station.
