Here is a fun opportunity to send and immortalize our names in space aboard the NASA Nancy Grace Roman Space telescope, scheduled for launch on Aug. 30, 2026.
Add your name to the list by July 12 at https://my.nasa.gov/specialevents/s/send-your-name-with-nancy-roman
The list will be stored on an SD card and attached to the square at the bottom right of the plaque, which is mounted on the side of the telescope.

Let’s pass on this info to our young friends and family.
The NASA Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will launch on Aug 30, 8 months ahead of schedule. It completed a journey from GSFC, MD to KSC, FL aboard the Pegasus barge on June 21.
Named after NASA’s first chief astronomer, Nancy Grace Roman (1925-2018), the ‘mother of the Hubble Space Telescope,’ the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will have a field of view at least 100 times larger than Hubble’s, allowing it to study a billion galaxies in its lifetime. This observatory will also be able to block starlight to directly see exoplanets and planet-forming disks, complete a statistical census of planetary systems in our galaxy, and settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics.

The Roman Space Telescope will be stationed at the Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange point, 1.5 million km away from Earth, similar to the location of the Webb Telescope.

We will do a deep dive into the design of the telescope at a later date.
Lord knows, with all the non-stop chaos around us from all 3 three branches of our government, we need a timeline cleanser every now and then to calm down and to recharge for the battles ahead.
We’ll get straight to the point: The financial hardships that Daily Kos is facing this year are tough.
