Higher storm coverage Tuesday; Flooding threat this week
While not every day will be a washout, the best chance for storms will be the late afternoons and evenings.
FORT MYERS, Fla. —
As more moisture works into the region, expect higher storm coverage Tuesday. While it won’t be a washout, we’ll see widespread storm coverage by the early evening. The biggest threats will be heavy rain and lightning.
As deep tropical moisture builds through the rest of the week, expect high rain chances every afternoon. An east wind will drive most of the coverage toward the coast on Wednesday. With high storm coverage and the potential for flooding, Wednesday will be a Gulf Coast Weather Impact Day.
Looking ahead to the Fourth of July, expect hot conditions with highs in the low 90s. Coastal showers will be possible during the morning with scattered afternoon storms. If you can hear thunder, be sure to get indoors.
Tracking the Tropics
Disorganized showers and storms associated with an area of low pressure in the southwestern Atlantic has low odds for tropical development. This disturbance poses no threat to Florida. The latest odds for development are only 10 percent over the next two days. The next name on the list is Bertha.
