LeBron James reportedly told the Los Angeles Lakers he intends to continue his NBA career with another team next season, ending an eight-season run with the franchise.

James, 41, said he plans to play a record 24th NBA season, but has informed the Lakers they can move forward without him, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN‘s Shams Charania on Tuesday.
The four-time NBA MVP joined the Lakers in 2018 and led the franchise to the 2020 NBA championship. During his time in Los Angeles, he also became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and last season averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 60 games.

James’ departure makes him one of the most sought-after free agents on the market, with several teams expected to pursue the future Hall of Famer. Reports have linked him to the Golden State Warriors, among other potential destinations.
