Amber Alert canceled after 3-month-old baby found safe, mother in custody, officials say

Hours after the California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for a 3-month-old boy, officials said the baby is safe, and his mother is in custody.The alert was issued after Maxence Sirois’ mother did not return him to his father on June 30 as required by a court-ordered custody agreement. Maxence Sirois was last seen at 1 p.m. Sunday at McBride Lane and Underwood Avenue in the Hayward area of Alameda County, but CHP said it was not notified until Tuesday.The Hayward Police Department said Sirois was taken by his mother, 42-year-old Marina Kazakova.Hayward police later announced that Maxence was found safe and unharmed and that Kazakova is in custody. Efforts are underway to reunite Maxence with his father.CHP said Maxence and Kazakova could have been in Alameda, San Joaquin, Kern or Los Angeles counties.
