SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The heat and humidity are in full force! We got up to 99° at Westover, breaking a the daily record high of 96° for July 2nd. With highs dew points feel-like temperatures reached near 105°. Highs ranged from 92°-98° across western Mass. Bradley reached 100° and Boston reached 101°.
After a fast moving, severe storm rolled through western Mass between 10:00-11:30 the rest of the night should remain quiet.
**An Extreme Heat Warning remains effect through Saturday Evening.**
Temperatures will reach near 100° again Friday. It will stay humid as well with dew points between 66-72°. This combination drives feels-like temperatures, or heat index values back to 105°+. We may also see a few afternoon and evening thunderstorms as well.
Saturday, July 4th is still looking hot and humid with highs in the middle 90’s. There may be a few storms around in the afternoon as a cold front approaches.
We will begin to turn cooler and less humid Saturday night with temperatures falling into the 60’s.
Sunday will not be as hot and humid with highs in the middle and upper 80’s along with dew points in the 50’s. Sunday will also feature lots of sunshine, so a nice summer day.
Low pressure will slide our way on Monday with perhaps a period of rain, keeping it much cooler with highs in the 70’s. We may end up with a widespread soaking!
