Once found across wetlands in India, Bangladesh and Myanmar, the Pink-headed Duck was famous for its distinctive rosy-pink head. Hunting and wetland destruction caused a dramatic decline. No confirmed sightings have occurred for decades, and it is currently classified as Critically Endangered and widely considered possibly extinct.
The disappearance of these bird species is a powerful reminder of how quickly biodiversity can be lost. Protecting forests, wetlands and other natural habitats remains essential to prevent more species from joining this list and to ensure future generations inherit a world rich in wildlife and biodiversity.
