SHERBURNE, N.Y. — A Sherburne man has reached out to NASA to try and confirm if a piece of material he found embedded in one of the properties he manages is from outer space.
The man tells CNY Central he was alerted after a tenant at Westlake Village on West State Street reached out to say an “unknown object” struck their building. The tenant described an extremely loud impact and said the object first hit a nearby tree before continuing into the building.
When the property manager inspected the unit, he says he found an object that hit with enough force, it was lodged into the building’s siding. The object is thick, heavy, and looks to be black on the outside. The property manager says it appears to have been “precision-manufactured,” and given the impact location, there is no way it could have come from anywhere other than from a high elevation.
The property manager has reached out to local police and NASA’s Debris Hotline. He says they called back and asked him to send pictures so they can investigate further.
No one was injured in the incident, and the property manager is assessing the damage to the property.
