Jannik Sinner defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, inching one step closer to defending his title.
Struff kept the match competitive with his blistering first serve, consistently clocking speeds over 130 MPH.
However, as the rallies grew more intense, Sinner’s impressive variety proved too much for the 36-year-old German to handle.
The World No. 1 dominated on his first serve, winning an impressive 85 percent of his service points.
Furthermore, he was able to tee off on Struff’s far less intimidating second serve, putting the German on the defensive end immediately.
In the final match of the day, Novak Djokovic defied Father Time once again.
The 39-year-old Serbian outlasted No. 3 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in a five-set classic, moving one step closer to a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title.
After losing the first set in a thrilling tie-break, Auger-Aliassime calmed his nerves and found his best tennis to take the second set.
However, any momentum was short-lived as Djokovic used his signature defense and played arguably his best tennis to take the third set.
Djokovic continued to stay in top form, but Auger-Aliassime remained undeterred, using his first serve to win free points before persevering in a fourth-set tiebreaker.
Just like the fourth set, both players continued to hold, sending the match to a 10-point tiebreaker, where Djokovic relied on his mental fortitude and defense, among other factors, to prevail.
