Lane Kiffin and LSU scored a win over Ole Miss — on the recruiting trail.
Jayden Anding, a four-star safety in the 2027 class, picked the Tigers over the Rebels on Tuesday afternoon.
The Ruston native is the younger brother of current LSU defensive back Aidan Anding, a four-star cornerback in the 2025 class; the sophomore is expected to miss next season with a torn Achilles tendon.
Jayden Anding is also teammates at Ruston High School with another LSU commit, Ahmad Hudson, who is considered a five-star tight end prospect and ranked top-20 nationally. They play both basketball and football together.
Anding is ranked as the No. 311 prospect in 2027 class by the 247Sports Composite. He’s the third defensive back in the Tigers’ haul, joining four-star Greedy James, who flipped from Texas last week, and Markez Davis, who is listed as an “athlete” by recruiting services but is expected to play on the defensive side.
Anding is the 16th commitment overall in LSU’s recruiting class, and he’s the 12th with a four- or five-star rating. He’s also the Tigers’ 12th commit in the past month.
The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back has held an LSU scholarship offer since August, but Ole Miss put itself in the mix with an offer in January. Anding visited the Rebels a month ago but, ultimately, he decided to stay in state and join his brother at LSU.
“I looked at the development,” Anding said during a Rivals livestream of his commitment. “They’ve been putting plenty of guys in the league, just looking back at who has been there, all the safeties and DBs and corners.
“And they got Coach (Corey) Raymond, and Coach O (Ed Orgeron) is back, that’s a big deal. … I just know I’m gonna be in a better place.”
This year’s LSU squad will visit Ole Miss on Sept. 19 in Kiffin’s return to Oxford, Mississippi, where he coached the Rebels for six seasons.
