For Eagles fans born in the mid-’90s like myself, I feel like a common refrain will be Brian Dawkins.
At the turn of the century when the Eagles entered their franchise’s first Golden Age, there were plenty of talented, star-level players donning midnight green at the Vet and later the Linc.
None quite hit, figuratively and literally, like Dawkins.
As a kid who soaked up X-Men cartoons, movies and comics, Dawkins’ Weapon X persona made me adore the guy on top of him being one of the premier defenders of his generation and one of the best safeties ever. That berserker energy he played with on the field was so infectious.
