UConn fans will get a chance to see some former Huskies chasing their NBA dreams over the next week-plus, as the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas tips off.
First-round pick Tarris Reed Jr. will suit up for the San Antonio Spurs– Reed has already played two games in the California Classic– and fellow first-rounder Alex Karaban could suit up for the Sacramento Kings, though the former Huskies captain is nursing a right ankle sprain suffered in practice on July 2. Karaban was set to be re-evaluated on Thursday.
Aside from the two 2026 draftees, UConn fans will also get a chance to watch 2024 Final Four Most Outstanding Player Tristen Newton, who had a stellar season in the NBA G League last year and is looking to make the Houston Rockets roster. Liam McNeeley, who was a first-round pick last year but struggled through an injury-riddled rookie season, will take the court with the Charlotte Hornets.
