SILVIS, Ill. (KWQC) – Beginning in 2028, two series of tournaments will debut for the PGA.
The tournaments will be the PGA Tour Championship Series and the PGA Tour Challenger Series.
Now, with the John Deere Classic in the rearview mirror, leaders at John Deere are weighing in on their future as the title sponsor of the golf tournament as well as future changes to the PGA.
“We are aware of the PGA tour’s latest announcement and look forward to learning more about plans for 2028 and beyond. The John Deere Classic has long been a source of pride for our community, and we remain committed to delivering a world-class experience for players, fans, and partners in the Quad Cities in coming years.”
John Deere is the title sponsor for the classic through 2030.
At the beginning of June, tournament director Andrew Lehman said Golfweek falsely reported that the PGA Tour asked John Deere to move the tournament to Chicago.
Lehman confirmed the tournament, and John Deere weren’t asked to move, but that the PGA does want to operate in larger markets.
It is unknown where Silvis would land in these new tournaments.
The dates for next year’s John Deere Classic have not been announced.
