When it comes to real estate, the mantra is location, location, location. At Lake Tahoe’s exclusive Martis Camp, however, Lookout House—named for its commanding vistas—is just as much about the amenities that accompany the sought-after setting.

The 9,000-square-foot abode, designed by acclaimed architect Greg Faulkner, sits at the base of a volcano that dates back three million years. Drawing on that geologic backdrop, the home welcomes visitors with a lava-colored entry and red-orange glass walls.

Membership access to the mountain enclave’s Tom Fazio–designed course is available, but you don’t actually have to leave the house to practice your swing. On the ground floor are a golf simulator and a putting green that can be adjusted for uphill, downhill, and off-camber putts. Nearby is a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, a custom Italian marble tequila bar, and a surround-sound theater with a 150-inch screen.

An elevator whisks up to the next floor, where the living and dining rooms sit alongside the kitchen and pantry. There’s a second wine cellar that will hold an additional 2,000 bottles, and, just beyond the kitchen, an outdoor dining gallery is heated for comfort, with a slender fire feature that runs the length of the table.

Beyond the usual spaces, the main floor also has a Therme Vals-inspired wellness center complete with hot and cold plunge pools, a Finnish sauna, a steam room, and a gym. Audiophiles can spend their days holed up in the dedicated music-listening room, while children have their own hideaway, a playroom equipped with a climbing wall, monkey bars, a swing, and a floor that is both padded and heated.

Across three levels, the home includes five bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, with the primary suite occupying the top floor. The fireplace-warmed retreat is complemented by a spacious bathroom and dressing room, a private deck, and a sunny flex space suitable as a creative studio or lounge. A cowhide-clad pivot conceals a private study, a workout area, and access to a second deck.

The $22 million estate, on the market with Martis Camp Realty, is a short drive from the community’s private Lookout Ski Lodge, which offers direct, high-speed chairlift access to the Northstar California Resort.
