PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife released a cinnamon bear that was spotted in Pueblo on Thursday.
According to the Pueblo Fire Department, crews assisted Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers and Pueblo Police in capturing the bear after it was spotted near La Vista Road.
CPW said the bear was immobilized and then later given a wake-up drug.
The bear is approximately 1 year old and 90 pounds.
Early Thursday evening, wildlife officers said they released the bear back into a “better bear habitat” about two and a half hours south of the city.
Wildlife officers said the historically low snowpack and nearby fires have brought the bears closer to our communities in search of safety and food.
