COMES FIRST. LIVE FROM KCRA THREE NEWS. WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS. THAT BREAKING NEWS. A 17 YEAR-OLD IS IN CUSTODY RIGHT NOW. MORE THAN A MONTH AFTER A DEADLY SHOOTING IN FAIRFIELD, ONE PERSON WAS KILLED. THREE MORE WERE INJURED WHEN SHOTS RANG OUT AFTER SAN BENITO HIGH SCHOOL’S GRADUATION CEREMONY ON JUNE 3RD. OFFICIALS SAY THE SUSPECTED SHOOTER IS NOW FACING A SUSPICION OF MURDER AND OTHER RELATED CHARGES. LET’S GET RIGHT TO KCRA 3’S MARICELA DE LA CRUZ LIVE AT FAIRFIELD CITY HALL, WHERE POLICE JUST WRAPPED UP A NEWS CONFERENCE. YEAH, THAT WAS A PRETTY QUICK AND SHORT NEWS CONFERENCE TODAY WHERE THEY JUST CONFIRMED THE ARREST OF THIS 17 YEAR OLD, THIS ARREST, WE’RE TOLD, HAPPENED THIS MORNING IN THE DALLAS FORT WORTH AREA IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, ALONG WITH THE U.S. MARSHALS. NOW, THIS IS IN CONNECTION TO THE SHOOTING. AFTER THAT, SAN PEDRO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION CEREMONY BACK IN JUNE. THE POLICE CHIEF AGAIN SAYS THAT THE TEENAGER WAS DETAINED IN DALLAS. WE KNOW THAT THIS WAS CONDUCTED IN A HOME. HOWEVER, WHO’S HOME AT THIS TIME IS UNKNOWN. WE TRY TO ASK HIM QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS ARREST, LIKE IF THE SUSPECT IS ALSO A SAN BENITO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT OR IF HE WAS A GRADUATE. AT THIS TIME, WE’RE TOLD THAT THAT INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE NOR NOR WERE THERE DETAILS ABOUT WHAT EXACT INFORMATION LED TO HIS ARREST. BUT LET’S GO AHEAD AND HEAR FROM THE CHIEF OF POLICE, WHO TALKED ABOUT THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN FAIRFIELD POLICE AND THE U.S. MARSHALS FOR THIS ARREST. WE DID HAVE COOPERATION FROM OTHER AGENCIES. THIS WOULD HAVE MADE THIS A VERY CHALLENGING ARREST TO MAKE. THIS IS IN A STATE, AS YOU CAN TELL, MANY, MANY MILES AWAY FROM US. AND THOSE AGENCIES IN THAT STATE, ALONG WITH OUR FEDERAL PARTNERS, THE U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE DID TAKE THE LEAD ON TAKING THE INDIVIDUAL INTO CUSTODY. NOW, THE TEENAGER’S IDENTITY IS STILL NOT BEING RELEASED BECAUSE IN CALIFORNIA, OF COURSE, 17 IS STILL UNDER AGE. NOW, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE 17 YEAR OLD AND JAMAL BAKER, THE 18 YEAR OLD WHO WAS KILLED IN THAT GRADUATION CEREMONY, IS STILL UNKNOWN. AND WE WERE TOLD THAT MORE INFORMATION IS EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED NEXT MONDAY. SO WE’RE JUST WAITING TO FIND OUT MORE DETAILS AGAIN. WHAT LED UP TO THE SHOOTING? IF THE SUSPECT, THE TEENAGER WHO WAS DETAINED TODAY, AND BAKER WERE CONNECTED IN ANY WAY. BUT OF COURSE, AS SOON AS WE HAVE THAT INFORMATION, WE’LL LET YOU KNOW. FOR NOW, WE’RE LIVE IN FAIRFIELD.
