Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced sold more than two million copies during its first 24 hours on the market, handing it a bigger launch than Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
The latest entirely new entry in the series recorded one million “players” (rather than sales) on its opening day, and Black Flag Resynced has doubled that in sales alone.
To celebrate the sales milestone and thank the playerbase, Ubisoft has a redemption code rewarding a set of Crimson Storm sails and 1,500 Animus Keys to buy items in the Animus Hub. You can redeem the following code on the Ubisoft website:
2 million copies sold on launch day!

Head of the brand Martin Schelling said: “Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours. Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for.”
It was previously reported that Ubisoft has plans for more Assassin’s Creed remakes, but whether they’re greenlit would depend on the performance of Black Flag Resynced. So far, it appears there is a lot of demand for these classic entries to come back and be modernised.
Unfortunately, as well as launching the Black Flag remake success, one of the teams that worked on the project, Ubisoft Barcelona, lost 51 employees in a round of layoffs.
In my Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced PS5 review, I gave the remake an 8/10 and called it “better, bigger, and markedly flashier in all the right ways. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced demonstrates there’s still a charm to staying faithful.”
