PHILADELPHIA (KPTV) – The 2026 MLB Draft is underway, and a number of prospects with local ties have heard their names called.
The draft began on Saturday with the first four rounds, and concludes Sunday with rounds 5-20.
Here are the prospects with ties to Oregon and Southwest Washington drafted so far:
Round 252nd overall (Miami Marlins): Oregon State LHP Ethan Kleinschmit (Mount Angel – John F. Kennedy High School)
The southpaw spent two seasons with the Beavers after beginning his collegiate career at Linn-Benton Community College. As a junior in 2026, he went 9-2 with a 3.74 ERA over 15 starts, racking up 97 strikeouts in 77 innings.
Kleinschmidt had a decorated prep career at Kennedy High School, leading the Trojans to a perfect 31-0 record and state championship during his senior season, in which he went 16-0 with a 0.56 ERA.
Round 3103rd overall (Toronto Blue Jays): Oregon INF Ryan Cooney (Portland – Jesuit High School)
Cooney started 139 out of 164 games played for the Ducks over three seasons, hitting over .330 in each of the last two years. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2026, leading Oregon with a .335 batting average and 15 stolen bases.
The Portland native hit over .400 his senior season at Jesuit High School in Beaverton, and was the Metro League Player of the Year as a junior after hitting .455 that season.
Round 4105th overall (Chicago White Sox): Oregon State RHP Eric SeguraRound 5137th overall (Chicago White Sox): Oregon RHP Cal ScolariRound 6187th overall (Detroit Tigers): Oregon INF Maddox Molony (Springfield – Thurston High School)
Molony had a down year at the plate as a junior in 2026, but hit over .300 in each of his first two seasons with the Ducks, along with 37 career home runs.
The shortstop was the Oregon 5A Player of the Year in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023 at Thurston High School. He led the Colts to a state championship his senior year, hitting .487 on the season.
Round 8253rd overall (Los Angeles Dodgers): Oregon LHP Miles GosztolaRound 10313th overall (Los Angeles Dodgers): Oregon RHP Devin Bell (La Grande – La Grande High School)
Bell earned 12 saves as Oregon’s closer in 2026 – his lone season with the team after starting his collegiate career at Western Oregon. The right-hander was a starter for the Wolves in 2025 and pitching out of the bullpen his first two seasons.
He helped lead La Grande High School to the state championship as a senior in 2022, and was named the Oregon 4A Player of the Year, setting a state high school record with 69 RBIs as an infielder.
