ASHLAND, Ore. – Ashland is celebrating a decades-long international friendship with the unveiling of a new public art installation. A new heart sculpture is on display right outside the entrance to Lithia Park.

It’s the second piece in the “Hearts of Guanajuato” art installation, celebrating 56 years of friendship between Ashland and its sister city, Guanajuato, Mexico. The sister-city relationship has long focused on cultural, educational, and community exchanges.

The first heart sculpture was installed on the Southern Oregon University campus last summer.

Delegates from the Mexican sister city will be able to see the new sculpture on their annual visit to Ashland this month.
