LAS VEGAS — Magic rookie Izaiyah Nelson suffered a fracture in his left ankle during the first half of Sunday’s Las Vegas Summer League game against the Trail Blazers, the team announced Monday morning.

Nelson, the No. 51 pick in June’s NBA draft, was initially diagnosed with a left ankle sprain, but additional imaging done Sunday revealed the fracture.

Nelson will undergo surgery and is expected to return to basketball activities in 3-4 months, the team said.

The injury occurred around the seven-minute mark of the second quarter when Nelson came flying in for a block but landed awkwardly on teammate TyTy Washington Jr., who was trying to take a charge on a layup attempt from Portland’s Quincy Olivari.
