Another Wimbledon has rolled by without Prince Louis making his debut, despite reports about his aspirations to one day be at Centre Court.

On Sunday, July 12, all but one member of the Wales family took their seats in the Royal Box to watch Jannik Sinner defeat Alexander Zverev in the Men’s Singles Final. Kate Middleton continued her duties as the official patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the Wimbledon Championships, and was joined by her husband, Prince William, and their two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

It has become a sort of tradition for 12-year-old George and 11-year-old Charlotte to accompany their parents to at least one Wimbledon final each year, but 8-year-old Louis hasn’t been given the privilege despite being the same age his older siblings were when they made their debuts.

So, why doesn’t Prince Louis go to Wimbledon? The answer is unclear, but given the youngest Prince’s reputation for silly, playful behavior at Royal events and his documented struggles with sitting still, we’re guessing hours of sitting in silence during a tennis match might be too much for Louis to handle.

In 2023, Middleton revealed that her youngest son wasn’t happy about being left out of the family outing when Charlotte attended the tournament for the first time. “Louis was very upset he wasn’t coming today,” she said per People. “It’s Charlotte’s first time, George came last year. They’ve been eagerly watching.”

Ahead of this year’s Men’s Final, The Telegraph interviewed ball girl Jenna Fontanilla, 18, after she spoke with Middleton the day prior. Fontanilla said that the Princess of Wales spoke about Louis’ love of tennis, despite him once again not attending Wimbledon.

“She told me about how Louis was asking her about how to become a ball boy, and we were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids, and it’s just so lovely,” Fontanilla said.

Perhaps next year will finally be Prince Louis’ Wimbledon debut.
