Winston-Salem officials ask for public input on dandelion sculpture locations

This is happening right near the Davidson Rowan County line, and the NCDOT map shows traffic is backed up past Bill’s truck stop. Miller’s Ferry Fire Department says it’s working *** number of crashes along this part of I-85, and we are of course working to get more information about what happened and whether anyone is hurt. Also today, Congress back in session without one of its own. Longtime South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham passed away unexpectedly over the weekend after what his office called *** brief and sudden illness. This was right after he got back from *** trip to Ukraine. Graham often traveled to difficult spots on the planet but never forgot his home state of South Carolina and South Carolinians have not forgotten him either. There have been tributes from all over the Carolinas up to the White House as we continue to remember the late lawmaker. Both of North Carolina’s senators responded to Senator Graham’s sudden passing. Thom Tillis saying in part, quote. Lindsay was *** lifelong public servant, *** tireless champion for South Carolina, and an outspoken advocate for America’s role in protecting freedom throughout the world. Senator Budd, also praising the life of the longtime senator, writing on social media, quote, Lindsey Graham was *** dedicated public servant and friend. As an unapologetic champion for America and our allies, this loss will be felt immensely in the Senate and around the world. And as you might have seen maybe 20 minutes ago or so, South Carolina leaders have already taken the first steps toward filling Lindsey Graham’s seat. Just minutes ago, Governor Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s sister Darlene Graham Nordone to fill that seat until January when that term was up. The next step will be electing *** new senator. According to South Carolina state law, candidates can file to run for the seat starting July 21st. That filing period lasts for one week. Then there will be *** special Republican primary election set for August 11th. You want to be *** serious Republican contender to get the Senate nomination, you need to move quickly. You do not have time to wait. You need to be getting, hiring campaign staff, making *** plan and *** strategy, and raising money immediately. Whoever wins that special primary will take on Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election this November. Elsewhere this afternoon, people in Maine, police in Maine are investigating the nation’s second deadly ice-involved shooting in *** span of less than *** week. It is one of several developing stories we’re following at this hour. Authorities say that 1 person was killed in the shooting but did not share any specifics. Local immigrant groups. Identified the man as *** 26 year old Colombian native, telling CNN that the man was on his way to work. The group says the man was authorized to work in the US and had *** Social Security number. Federal officials have not confirmed those details or what led to the deadly shooting. Elsewhere, police say they have arrested *** 20-year-old man after two teenagers were shot on Friday. Authorities believe Leonardo Ruiz Martial was involved in *** shooting at *** private party on Craigmore Road in Winston-Salem. Police would not confirm if they believe he is the one who ultimately pulled the trigger, but his relationship to the victims is not clear either. Investigators say they are looking at leads right now and will share an update when they’re in *** position to be able to do so. And in Stokes County deputies are warning of *** brand new scam. We are told that fraudsters are calling residents and telling them that they have an arrest warrant for missing *** court appearance. To avoid being arrested, victims are being asked to send Bitcoin or gift cards. The Stokes County Sheriff’s Office says it will never ask for money to resolve legal matters. The large-scale sculptures celebrate resilience, hope, and community connection.
