OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A man accused of assaulting a woman outside Valley has now made his first court appearance.
Joseph McNeal, 43, has been formally charged with first-degree false imprisonment and terroristic threats; each charge carries a maximum penalty of up to three years in prison.
His bond was set at $25,000 on Monday.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested McNeal on Thursday morning near 38th Avenue and Dodge Street in Omaha.
Investigators say a woman reported that she got into McNeal’s car June 30 near 37th and Jones streets and that he struck her multiple times while driving, causing injuries, before pushing her out of the vehicle near Valley and leaving her on a dirt road.
The Douglas County Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for McNeal last Wednesday. He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop around 9 a.m. Thursday and booked into the Douglas County Corrections.
